Shining StarUnit
Every child, their own path
What happenshere
Established in 1971, the Unit provides individualised education for students with additional learning needs, within the life of the wider school.
The Shining Star Unit has been part of Hillwood since 1971, and remains one of the longest-running special education units in a Sri Lankan school. Every student has an individual education plan, reviewed each term with their family, and works with a team that includes special educators, a speech therapist and an occupational therapist. Students join the wider school for assembly, chapel, house events and lunch, because inclusion is the point — the Unit is a resource, not a separate school.
